"A Stretch Tube with Memory"

The Lastic-Tube® is the fastest, most economical, convenient and reliable way to produce baled silage.  The Lastic-Tube® system is developed around AT Plastics® exclusive "stretch tube with a memory" design.  This specially formulated polyethylene film automatically shrinks down tight against the bale, eliminating oxygen and creating an ideal environment for fermentation.

The fastest, most efficient way to protect and ensile hay and cereal forages of all types.
Proven system used in over 10 countries.

Helpful Hints for Round/Large Square Bale Silage

Choosing the Lastic-Tube® Storage Site:
storage site should be a flat, well drained, hard, level surface
crushed gravel, sand and asphalt are ideal sites
located in an area for easy removal of feed
protected from livestock

Lastic-Tube® Mounting Instructions:

  1. Slide the bag pan out of position.
  2. Using the hydraulic controls, move all hydraulic fingers to the inner most position.
  3. Open the Lastic-Tube® box.
  4. Examine the Lastic-Tube® and position box so that the "Leading Edge" is placed away from the machine.
  5. Place the Lastic-Tube® on the hydraulic fingers and insert between the bag pan and frame.
  6. Loosen bag ties - do not remove them.
  7. Begin to stretch the Lastic-Tube® until taut.
  8. Push bag pan back into position.
  9. Eliminate any wrinkles or areas where the Lastic-Tube® is not placed evenly over the hydraulic fingers.
  10. Remove bag ties.
  11. Stretch tube to the approximate diameter of the bale.
  12. Load first bale into machine using the manual controls.
  13. Take the "Leading Edge" of the Lastic-Tube® and pull approximately 5 feet of the Lastic-Tube® beyond the edge of the bale.
  14. From each end, roll the edge of the Lastic-Tube® towards the middle.   Twist end and secure with supplied wax cord.   Turn twisted end over previous knot and secure again.
  15. Continue tubing.

When to Stop:

Yellow caution tape has been placed in four locations approximately 9 feet from the end of the Lastic-Tube®.

When tubing bales from a four foot wide chamber baler and the yellow caution tape appears:

  1. Place one more bale in the Lastic-Tube®.
  2. Push bale into the Lastic-Tube® using the bale pusher.
  3. Remove the machine from the filled Lastic-Tube®.
  4. From each end, roll the edge of the Lastic-Tube® towards the middle.   Twist end and secure with supplied wax cord.   Turn twisted end over previous knot and secure again.

When tubing bales from a five foot wide chamber baler and the yellow caution tape appears:

  1. Push bale into the Lastic-Tube® using the bale pusher.
  2. Remove the machine from the filled Lastic-Tube®.
  3. From each end, roll the edge of the Lastic-Tube® towards the middle.   Twist end and secure with supplied wax cord.   Turn twisted end over previous knot and secure again.

Venting Instructions:
place a 2-3 inch (5-8 cm) strip of Patch Tape at the end of the Lastic-Tube®
using a utility knife, place a 1-1.5 inch (3-4 cm) slit through the Patch Tape and the Lastic-Tube®
when the pressure from the escaping gas cannot be detected by touch, reseal the Lastic-Tube® with another 2-3 inch (5-8 cm) strip of Patch Tape
do not breath in the escaping gases (the gases are toxic)
remember to seal the vent every evening
venting is necessary to eliminate excessive stress on the Lastic-Tube®

Lastic-Tube® Maintenance:
inspect on a regular basis and mend holes with Patch Tape or Patch Paint
do not allow dogs, cats or other animals to climb on the Lastic-Tube®
number and date your Lastic-Tube®'s for easy identification and recall of forage tubed
vent the Lastic-Tube® when necessary

Rodent Control:
keep storage site clean of garbage and free from weeds
control the growth of grasses and weeds through mechanical means or through the use of the approved chemical Round Up® (manufactured by Monsanto)

Use of Elemental Sulfur or Any Chemical Means for Rodent/Pest Control:
See Use of Chemicals for Rodent and Weed Control
